Problems
These resources address how, though it holds many strengths, society fails to fulfill its compassionate, democratic ideals. Rather, to an excessive degree, society promotes selfishness, the quest for status, and the lust for power. Moreover, it spreads and accepts self-seeking corruption, allows the powerful to oppress the less powerful with an unfair distribution of wealth and power, and cultivates a culture that dehumanizes.
These weaknesses are manifest in every sector. Their particular shape varies from sector to sector.
Each difficulty, however, can be seen as an example of a broad phenomenon: Society encourages everyone to climb social ladders and look down on and dominate those below — or submit to those above.
